Warning for Negligence in Sending Salaat and Salaam

Just as there are numerous virtues for sending blessings, there are also strong warnings for neglecting to do so.

In a Hadeeth the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said, "May the person be disgraced who does not send blessings on me when I am mentioned before him".
According to another Hadeeth such a person has been called "mean".

And in another Hadeeth while the leader of all the Prophets sallallahu alayhi wasallam was stepping on the pulpit, Hadhrat Jibraa'eel made three curses, and the intercessor of the sinners, the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam said Aameen to these curses. The Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam  said, "When I stepped on the second step of the pulpit, Jibraa'eel (alayhis salaam) said: The person is cursed before whom your name is mentioned and he does not send blessings on you. I said, "Aameen".

The curse of a distinguished angel like Jibraa'eel (alayhis salaam) was serious enough. The Aameen said by the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam made it more severe.

According to Ahaadeeth many warnings are given to the person who does not send blessings when he hears the name of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam. Allaamah Sakhaavee has summarized these as follows:

"The guilty gets the curses of ruin, and the news of disgrace, and of getting lost from the path of Paradise and landing in Hell. Such a person is malicious and the worst of all misers."

There are also warnings for not sending blessings on the Holy Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam in gatherings. Allaamah Sakhaavee adds that the faith of the person who does not send blessings is not established and that he will not be favoured to see his holy face.

Allaamah Sakhaavee has then quoted various narrations on this subject;
